Is she too rough with him? Sometimes I think so. She's taking Daddy's horse play (which appears rough but isn't) and uses it on brother. It usually ends up in her shoving him to the ground, "hugging" him around the neck which is actually choking him, and she usually tosses in a few eye, ear, and mouth pokes.
Today she did the unimaginable. They were both playing with the Leap Frog table. Evan had pulled up to standing and was hitting buttons too. I guess he was in her way or she didn't like what he was doing. I looked up just as she threw him to the ground. He of course had a hold of the table and so it came over on top of him bashing him in the face. So he had the trauma of sister throwing down and banging the back of his head along with the face smash from the table. He was mortified. Adam of course grabbed her and took her to her room for a timeout. It took a while to console Evan, but he was fine; just shaken up a bit. The poor kid isn't going to make it through to his birthday at this rate.
Anyways, so do you think there is a such thing as too rough when they are so close in age. Does she understand what she is doing is wrong? Is there anything else we can try to curb her from trying to play rough with him? He obviously loves playing with her because she makes him giggle. I just don't know what else to do.
A few other things of note...
Arabella has added several words to her vocabulary and here are just a few of the ones I can remember.
Grandma (nah-ma)
Pumpkin (pun-tin)
Fish (fe-ya)
Noise (noi-ya)
Sissy
La La La (Moo, Ba, La la la - it's one of her books)
Night Moon (Good Night Moon - her FAVORITE book, it has to be read every night)
Moron (umm....yeah, don't ask)
Baby (bee-bee)
Mess (miss)
Sorry (sah-wee)
Soap (so-pah)
She also started talking in toddlatin. I haven't a clue what she is saying, but man is she having one heck of a conversation. And today she did the cutest thing. I was sitting on her floor folding laundry and to keep her occupied I gave her a couple of her Dr. Suess books. She was reading the alphabet book and came across "I". There's a picture of an infant holding an ice cream cone. Well the cone has umpteen scoops and of course is melting all over the floor. Arabella proceeds to hug the book and say "Awe, baby." "Uh-oh, mess." She then brought the book to me so I could inspect this mess the baby made. I think she repeated this twenty times. So cute...it's hard to stay upset.
