Silliness

Arabella can be such a goof. We tell her to pull her pants up and she yanks them as far as they can go, and then sucks her gut in to drop them back down. G-O-O-F.

Here she is showing us her belly button

This is just how smart our little girl is. I went to pull some foil out to cover a dish and there was a little strip left. So I gave it to Arabella and she tried to put it on her head. So I took it back and shaped it into a foil hat of sorts. Adam then took her to the bathroom (excuse the messy mirror and crappy lighting) to check out her new hat. The first thing she said was "birthday." Huh? She's never seen a birthday hat that I can recall, where did she get that from or how did she put two and two together? Smart girl, smart girl.

Prima Ballerina

Prima ballerina? Probably not, but she sure does look cute her in tutu. Problem is getting her to hold still long enough to take a decent picture. Yeah, what am I saying? She's a toddler. And one of her favorite things to do in her tutu is jump. So above, she's preparing to leap off the ground for me.
In other fun news Arabella rolled her eyes at me for the first time. But it wasn't just that. At the time she rolled them she huffed, perfectly, just like a teenager. Then she sat there with the rolled-eyed attitude look on her face. All I did was ask her to take another bite of her dinner. I mean, where did she learn to do this? It's not like she got it from me. It was all I could do to not laugh at her. I know she heard/saw me giggle, cause she got a grin on her face. We're in for some big trouble ahead.

As for her language improvements I need someone to explain something to me. How is it that she cannot *CANNOT* say please properly, BUT she can say dinosaur like it's no big deal. Perfectly. How is that? She also cannot say yogurt. When I break it down yo-gurt, she can say it, but put it together it comes out goo-a-gerta, or something similar. What? How does that happen? There are several simple words she really needs to work on, but she apparently is set on saying complex words first. *shakes head* That's my girl, get the hard stuff out of the way first.

In funny news, we went to the chiropractor tonight and Arabella has been adamant about dragging her baby doll with her everywhere, so of course baby had to come with us. Now she has two dolls, one with clothes on, and one that is naked and has been colored on with crayon. We also gave her a magic bottle yesterday; so here she comes to the door, one doll tucked under both arms, bottle in hand and begins to beg us to grab the baby stroller too. It was sooooo cute. How do you say no to that? Well, when there's limited space in the car you kind of have to. So we told her only one baby was allowed to go. Adam said "pick one, and put the other one back." Then I heard a thud, she of course dropped the clothed baby and brought naked ghetto baby. The baby was a hit at the doctors office.

Well, gotta take care of little man, I'll be back with more tales from Mommyhood at another time.

22 Months

I'm sorry Arabella, I should have done this sooner. But time hasn't been on my side lately. So we're at 22 months now. You haven't really grown much in the past few months, but you're healthy and that's all that matters. You're 33.5" tall and 26 pounds 8 ounces. You're little brother is catching up with you really fast at this rate.

Where to start with your milestones? You are pretty much in line with a 24 month old. You've started singing Twinkle Twinkle little star, and Ring Around the Rosy. You can name all of your body parts and your speech is more an more audible with each day. You've been able to walk down stairs by yourself since 18 months and you know how to open doors. You can also point out tons of objects in your books. You're a lot smarter than given credit for a lot of the time. Oh how your daily chatter has become somewhat amusing. The more words you say the more I am amazed. We love you little girl!

9 Months

I've gotten horrible at keeping up with our monthly posts. Bad Mommy. So our over active little man is doing well. He is 30.5 inches tall and 20 pounds 15 ounces. The doctors said "Wow, he's going to be a tall boy." And the little piggy eats two to three cartons of food per meal. He's also eating cereal mixed in with his fruit during dinner. Then he munches on Gerber puffs and munchies. He's a piggy. So the doctor figured with his amount of solids and nursing that he would be chunkier than he is. He also helped us determine that the over night nursing is not necessary. I've known for a while, I just haven't had the ability to get him to sleep overnight. Or perhaps I haven't had the strength because I don't have the sleep I need to stay strong enough to make him sleep over night. Either way, tonight we are starting this transition. Adam is on vacation and we have to make it happen.

As for Evan's milestones he still isn't saying Mama or Dada, but he is working on his "m", "d" and "b" sounds. He's cruising the furniture, standing on his own for short periods of time and trying to walk between the toys. He's also walking back and forth between the sides of the pack n play. He's also all too well with banging toys together.  He's also getting great with at listening to us saying no and then with a smirk, continuing his wrong doing. Like I said before, he's an amazing eater, and he's great with his pincher grab. Goofy thing also likes to stuff the food in his mouth and try to chew with his fingers still in his mouth.

We really need to get on the ball with signing. With Arabella we started when she was six months old, so we're three months behind. I hope with Arabella still signing that it will help him get caught up.

I'm a little sad. My little man is becoming a toddler too fast for my taste. Before I know it will be celebrating his first birthday. Ah, where does the time go?

Mr. Ballerina

So I found out that Arabella's doll tutu fits her little brother, but just barely. I also found out that she was not happy one bit to share it with him. Mommy was having some fun, and he didn't seem to mind. :)

Elmo Goes Hunting

This is now the third hunting season I have missed. The first one due to Arabella's impending birth, the second due to Evan's impending birth, and this one because I have two young children and my husband is working the graveyard shift. But that's okay, I've made the best of it. So being that we all enjoy hunting there is a lot of camo that runs in the family. So it was no surprise that Arabella inherited some camo sweats. I pulled them out this afternoon and she said "oh, pretty."

Putting on camo wasn't enough for her. She also needed her Elmo slippers on. Adam and I started making goofy jokes regarding Arabella in her stand thinking to herself, "No deer, there's no one here, just Elmo." "Elmo's watching you." Then we thought Elmo could have his own show on the outdoor network "Stalking with Elmo." LOL. It was funny to us anyways.
Then I took Arabella down stairs and she decided that not only did she need her camo and Elmo slippers, but she needed to add her tutu. Such a goof ball she is.

Moo, Ba, La La La

Arabella has a few books that we can consider favorites. But the one she interacts with the most is Moo, Ba, La La La. I've been saying that I would get her "reading" on film, and we finally did. Enjoy!

New Happenings

I'm sorry if this comes out like I'm rambling, but it is after 1 in the morning and I'm trying to remember to get all of this down before I forget.

Standing ~ Evan stood on his own, unassisted yesterday! It was funny because Grandmama was over and she was borrowing the laptop to check her email. Evan was at the music table chewing on his ducky rattle. Apparently he lost track of what he was doing or said what the heck, let's give this a try. I watched him, gnawing on the duck and then he just stood there as he let go of the table he just stared at the t.v. and chewed on the duck. Of course I squealed "Oh my gosh, he's doing it." Just as Grandmama looked he plopped down. She thought perhaps he was taking steps, but nope, just standing is just as special. It means we're that much closer to walking.

Teething ~ We are still teething and apparently we're going to get another six teeth at once. It has been a few months since we've seen anything new pop through. He's gnawing on everything in site. And it really stinks that the Hyland's Teething Tabs were recalled because they did more for the kids than Tylenol had ever done. So we're stuck between a rock and a hard place there. But back to teething, the other night Adam was holding Evan on the bed and dozing off when all of the sudden Evan up and bit his knuckle really hard. I tried not to laugh, because I know how un-funny it is when it happens to me. I'm also hoping that the teeth issue is part of our sleep, or lack there of, issue but in my heart I know it's not.

Talking ~ As for Evan and talking he's getting a lot closer to saying Mama and Dada. He's trying to get new sounds out every day that aren't just baby babble. It's quite cute.

As for Arabella, she is one smart cookie. Pardon my french, but I stubbed my toe rather hard and the first thing that came out was dammit. Next thing I know, Ms. Parrot said "dammit" in this cute, polite voice. Mommy sure was embarrassed for sure. So, note to Mommy, don't say such things around Arabella unless you want them repeated in an untimely manner in the future. She's also getting better at putting more than one word together and asking for items by name rather than pointing and asking please. She's also trying to sign "welcome" after we say thank you to her. She actually says it and forgets to sign, but as long as we get it in one version or the other we're happy. She really does have manners which surprises a lot of people when we're in public. Please, Thank You, and Your Welcome go a long way these days.

Another funny thing she's said/done lately is "Shake your booty." I sing "Shake Your Booty" and try to get her to dance or shake her booty. Unfortunately with the lack of ability in enunciation at this time booty comes out boobie. So there she stands, wiggling her hiney, and shouting "Boobie, Boobie, Boobie." I tell you there is never a dull moment with this child.

Singing ~ I've been singing Itsy Bitsy Spider and Twinkle Twinkle a lot hear lately to both kids. The past couple of days I've caught Arabella singing Winkle Winkle ittle star, *insert mumbles here*. It's too cute.

Feeding the baby ~ Arabella knows that Evan gets Mommy milk, she comprehends it, she signs it, she makes sure to tell me exactly what Evan is doing while he's doing it. So now that she is more interested in her baby dolls she's attempted to nurse them through her shirt. It's the most awesome thing in the world from my point of view. But today she apparently believes that the baby needs solid foods, particularly wheat thins and water. So there she sat while I nursed Evan, she crammed a wheat thin into the tiny fake open hole of a mouth of the doll. Then she laid the cracker down and proceeded to shake her sippy of water at the dolls mouth until water came out. I abruptly stopped her but that didn't stop her from trying to stick the sippy into the dolls mouth. I am however glad to see she has the concept of imaginative play, but wishes she wouldn't crush wheat thins to do it.

Climbing ~ Arabella has always been overly active and when she started flipping off the couch I thought, she's gonna break her neck. Now I'll be surprised if she makes it to 5. Two days ago Adam and I were putting up the Halloween decorations, which include several resin pumpkins. There were two pumpkins sitting on the stairs. Now Arabella is contained in the living room where the couch backs up to the stairs. I came up from the basement only to do a double take as she's sitting on the couch with both pumpkins in her lap saying "pun-tee." I shout at Adam and ask him where the pumpkins were and he said "on the stairs." He comes up stairs and for the life of us can't believe her. She crawled up the back of the couch, stood on the outside of the stair case and some how managed to finagle the pumpkins up and over the railing and get them into her lap on the couch. I mean seriously she's either Houdini or she's going to be an acrobat when she grows up. I'm hoping there are other children like her out there? Some one please reassure me that this is normal!?!?

Well, Evan has decided that he finally wants to nurse to sleep so I must go now. I hope you enjoy this look into my little world because I know one day I'll look back on this post and laugh about how weird my children were.

You Capture ~ Halloween and Silence

This weeks challenge: Two, I have TWO for you.
1. Halloween
2. Silence

I prefer you to participate in both but I know some of you do not celebrate Halloween. But I would love it if we could all do silence. I can’t wait to see your creative brilliance at work…

And hey, if you are trying to photograph pumpkins, try to do it at dusk, turn off your flash (OF COURSE) and slow down your shutter speed. For great results, put your camera on a tripod.

So I wanted to get some really neat shots of our pumpkin, but that never really happened. I just could not get outside when the time was right, which tends to happen when you have two young kids and no one to help you.

So I present Pumpkin guts:

And The Aftermath:

Here are my adorable halloween babies:

And this was part of B's first trick or treating experience:

And it all ends with a silent night:

About Me

My photo
My name is Bobbi. My husband, Adam, and I have been married since September of 2007. We welcomed our daughter, Arabella, on December 31, 2008 and our son, Evan, on February 2, 2010. I'm a stay at home mommy who loves being able to be there for our children. Adam works for a communication company and has been there for ten years now. We are enjoying our time together and our newly expanded family. Things are hectic but all too fun with our Irish twins! I started the blog to keep everyone up to date with our going-ons and to give me a place to blow off steam from time to time. I hope you come back often an take a peek at the pictures I enjoy sharing.
