She really did it this time

Tonight the kids were holy terrors... Adam went to bed at 2pm only to have to rescue me during the making of dinner at 5:30p. He was bouncing Evan, trying to keep him calm until I could nurse him and Arabella was being a PITA. She kept crawling on the couch after we had been telling her to stop it. I was in the kitchen, couldn't see her, but I knew what she was up to. She's been getting more and more brave about leaning over the end of the couch arm. I knew it would happen but why today?

All I heard was, Arabella if you don't sit on your hiney you're going to fall....SILENCE.....followed by a loud thud and Adam saying "I told you so." Of course Mommy freaks out and runs down the stairs to scoop her up and check her out. I asked what happened and he said she went overhead first. She had a really red, slightly rug burned forehead, mainly to her left side. Other than that she appeared to be okay, but scarred. So I sat her in a time out on the floor for not listening to Daddy. The next thing I know she's crawling back up on the couch and nearly did it again. You think the kid would learn...

Really? Do you have to get so big?

So I previously thought that her stunt with the clothes basket was bad. Apparently Arabella is just into that "give Mommy a heart attack" phase. I mean from this shorter height it can't be as bad right? WRONG.

Arabella managed to dump her toy box (tote) out. It's one of those short under the bed types, so probably no more than 8 inches off the ground. She turned it over, crawled up on it and proceeded to stand on top. Yes, I said stand. Thinking she's queen of the mountain I guess, she started to "dance" like it were a stage. She promptly fell off, hitting Daddy's recliner on the way down. You want to talk about Mommy truly freaking out and just astounded that she thinks she can do these things.

It didn't seem to phase her one bit. No tears, no fussing, no nothing. She promptly wobbled back up to a standing position and tried it again. I don't know if I'm going to make it through her toddler phase.

Who Taught Her These Things

I was sitting on the living room floor, folding sheets. I had turned one of the baskets over so Arabella could bang on it, cause that's her thang. I also thought it might prompt her to start scooting it across the floor so she could practice her walking more.

I had just started to fold a pillow case and when I brought the pillow case down to put on the folded clothes, there she was, standing ON the basket. Grasping onto the handle of her learning band walker she was attempting to play with the on/off switch. Of course I freaked out, yelled for Adam to come look. At that time she decided to plop on her butt on the basket. As heavy as she is it started to cave in a bit. So we removed her and Adam put the basket over her and she apparently has Mommy's bad case of claustrophobia. Crying ensued, then Daddy made it better.

Apparently she didn't learn from the first stunt that Mommy & Daddy don't really care for these sort of acts of bravery. I'm still curious as to where she learned to do such things. Sure she climbs the stairs while we're behind her, but the basket is much taller than our stairs. Heaven help us.

Don't worry Mom...I'm a professional

How do you know when your "little one" is no longer little? When they believe they are the world's best dare devil and aren't afraid to try any little stunt.

I didn't get to see her first stunt for myself, but Adam was more than happy to share her story with me. I'm still in disbelief that she's this brave. Personally I'm a chicken when it comes to stunts, so she apparently got her bravery from her Daddy.

We have a John Deere ride on Gator toy. Not the big motorized one, but a small kiddie version I bought over 9 years ago for my nephew. Arabella pushed it to the fence that is blocking our t.v. and managed to get it parallel parked next to the fence. Then she put one foot in the dump bed and one foot on the seat, using the fence for support and pulled herself up to standing to watch the t.v., up close. Fabulous...Evil Knievel has moved into my house.

Of course Adam yelled for me to come look but I wasn't able to make it to see her. Daddy promptly helped her down and told her not to do it again.
