Diaper Woes

I really can't think of much more to say other than...really? This is my daughter...the one who refuses to wear diapers.

Nesting Blocks Rock!

Arabella has been very big on stacking, knocking over, and putting things in other objects for quite some time. So we recently went to the store to get some more learning toys for her and a few baby toys for Evan. On our trip she scored another puzzle (one with the knobs on the pieces), a see and say, and some abc nesting blocks. She loves the puzzle and has now added "moo" to her list of animal sounds. The see and say is a big hit as well. She's still working on her ability to pull the handle back far enough to get it to talk rather than just spin. She loves for me or Daddy to do it for her so she can hear all of the sounds and songs. But I think the nesting block were the biggest hit of all. She stacks, unstacks, nests and uses them to stand on.

Enjoy!

Happy Little Sitting Boy

Last night little man decided that he had to sit up. So Adam captured a couple of pictures of him watching me & sissy.

Later on, he was up way past his bed time. We actually caught him a decent mood I suppose. I needed a break from him sitting up against me & he refused to lay down. The other option was to leave him on the boob. So instead I had Adam drag up Arabella's old exersaucer toy up from the basement and he enjoyed it immensely. Of course he's still a tad wobbly and we had to put his blanket around him to keep him up right. But for a little while he was content.

Yesterday

Mommy's little bucket head.

Yesterday was a box full of fun...

Ms. Arabella lost her diaper, not once but TWICE! The first time we put her & Zoe down for a nap. Obviously we put them down in two different rooms for more than obvious reasons. So Zoe went to sleep like any normal worn out kid would do. Arabella on the other hand, let's just say she was putting on a puppet show. After the first hour I went in, laid her back down, turned on her monkey show and told her to go night-night. The next hour went by and she talked the entire time, never crying, just playing. So I sent Adam in and boy was he ticked. I of course grabbed the camera to see what the commotion was all about.

Daddy had found his little girl buck naked. Well, she left her shirt on at least. She had pulled her pants off and removed her wet diaper. Then proceeded to play and peed on the bed. Fabulous end to her non-nap. As you can see from top left to bottom right: She was very pleased with her new found skill of undressing herself; the evidence speaks for itself; it's wet so you guess what happened; and the not-so-fun reality sunk in to her head that this was a no-no.

And before anyone throws it out there; yes we've put onesies on her and even that no longer stops her. The girl knows how to unbutton and remove them as well.

You'd think after the first episode she'd have learned that it's not a good idea to disrobe. I only wish I were kidding about the next scenario. Later in the afternoon, she and Zoe were chasing one another across the living room. They just kept going back and forth. All of the sudden I noticed a white bulge creep out of Arabella's pant leg. Ummmm, yeah, it was her diaper. Apparently she had been sticking her hands in her pants again and managed to get one side of the diaper unlatched. Then in the process of running back and forth it worked it's way down her leg. She then stopped for a moment by her time out chair to relieve herself on the carpet before I discovered what was coming out of her pant leg. Talk about a fun afternoon.

You Capture ~ Yellow

This weeks You Capture challenge is yellow. I didn't realize how fun it would be to find yellow items to capture. I was tempted to go all floral, but that's just not really me. As you may be able to tell by now I have this issue with being unable to narrow my pictures down to one or two for these challenges. So I guess you're just going to have to enjoy all of the pictures I post.

I took this one back in April, but couldn't resist using it. These are my son's feet.

I love bright sunny days.

Here is one of my munchkins taking in some much needed sunlight.

You've gotta love sidewalk chalk.

This is my goddaughter. I couldn't help but take a picture of her eating her plastic banana and chugging some "beer."

Here's my little blue-eyed baby boy.

So happy at two in the morning.

This was a chair we rescued. We currently use it as a time out chair and apparently my daughter's sippy needed a time out.

I posted earlier this week some photos that didn't make the cut... click here.

You Capture ~ Pics That Didn't Make The Cut

Happy Mother's Day!!!! Well, I took the kids to visit my Mother this afternoon. Now, I've already got my next You Capture Assignment wrapped up and ready to post on Thursday. But I couldn't help but take some pictures of my Mom's flora on the farm. In my post you'll see I note that taking pictures of flowers isn't exactly me. However, I'm reading through the manual of my camera and trying to learn how to work with new settings. See, I've had the camera since 2007 and haven't even scratched the surface of what it is capable of. So enjoy some beautiful iris photographs for today!

fAnS! FANS! Fans!

I am so sick & tired of fans! We bought a fan a couple of weeks ago for Evan's room. At the time it was the cheapest & closest thing to a box fan at Target. It had bells & whistles we really didn't need, like a remote control, but the timer feature was neat.

We hadn't really used it all that much until Arabella's fan went kaput. So Adam moved it to her room. Her room gets unbearably hot, so it was necessary. Then he noticed a funny smell in her room. At first we blew it off as her pee filled diaper. But last night I had a theory that it wasn't. So I opened her door, turned the fan off and waited for ten minutes or so. I returned to her room and did smell a full diaper, but not the funny "burning" smell we had noticed before. So I called Adam and told him the fan was going back. Forty dollars and a smell like that isn't worth it. I was more concerned about her safety. What if something inside truly was burning? In general her fan runs for 12 hours over night.

So this morning I decided to be a trooper and take both kids with me to Target. In reality it was either that or wait until Friday and I wasn't going to make her (and me) suffer overnight. So I tell the girl what was going on and she said no problem. I got my money back and went to the fan isle and was able to replace the $40 fan with two $15 box fans that they now had in stock.

I get home, both kids are out. I take Evan in, then one fan. I get it ready in Arabella's room only to find that the box is damaged. No biggie I thought. I pull it out only to find four different dents, not dings, but dents in the damn thing. The entire bottom corner is caved in. It doesn't seem to affect the function of the fan, but it is rather annoying. It's supposed to be BRAND NEW???? So now I'm debating, should I take it back and replace it also? Arrrggghhhhh.

On a happier note, I was in such a hurry to get out the door that when I posted my You Capture challenge, I forgot to see what next week's assignment was. So as soon as I got home I looked and it is "yellow." How perfect? I was buying the kids shorts, cause they don't have any, and I happened to pick up a $3 yellow tank shirt for Bella. And I have an awesome coordinating onesie for Evan....PERFECT! So I can't wait to see what other yellow happiness I can find for next week.
